Vrooman and Minerva Ellarson Vrooman. She was a direct descendant of two of Schoharie county's foremost Revolutionary soldiers. On the paternal side, Mrs. Baker was descended from Adam Vrooman; through her mother, she claimed relationship to David Ellarson, the famous Morgan scout and companion of Timothy Murphy. Mrs. Baker was married Oct. 20, 1896, to Alberti Baker, who later was district attorney of Schoharie county from 1921 to 1927. After residing for a brief time at Oak Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Baker moved to Coxsackie, where they lived from 1897 to 1906, when they moved to Schoharie. She was a member of the DAR from 1913 until her death, and took a very active part in the affairs of the Schoharie Free Library. For 21 years she was librarian.
