Born on May 7, 1924 to Adolph G Vogel and Mathilda (Moeckel) Vogel, Ruby was raised on the family farm in Jacob, Illinois.

The Vogel family moved to Mercedes, Texas in September 1943 due to the great Mississippi River flood. Ruby married A. R. Dillon Jr., a farmer and rancher, on February 5, 1950. Happily married for 54 years, they spent all their married life on Dillon's Farm northeast of Mercedes. She was a happy homemaker, cooking and baking for her family. She loved to sew, making clothing for the family and keepsake quilts for her children and grandchildren.

Ruby was blessed with many kind nieces, nephews, and friends near and dear to her. Surviving are her three wonderful children: Son, Dr. Ray Dillon and wife Cathy Dillon of Auburn, AL: daughter, Susan Dillon Eidbo and husband Rolf Eidbo, of San Deigo, CA: and son, Dr. Curtis J. Dillon of Mercedes. TX.

A special thanks goes to her youngest son, Dr. Curtis Jay Dillon who moved in with his parents in 2000 to care for his father, A.R. Dillon Jr, and then for his mother, Ruby, to allow them both to continue living on the Dillon family farm. Her six precious grandchildren are Heather Eidbo of San Diego, CA; Michelle Dillon Puckett and Brian Puckett of Helena, AL; Haley Dillon Byers and Brannon Byers of Decatur, GA: Eric Eidbo of San Lorenzo, CA; Audrey Eidbo Johnson and Dane Johnson of San Louis Obispo, CA: and Mark Eidbo of San Diego, CA; and two great grandchildren Mallory and Abigail Puckett of Helena, AL.
