Gladys June Gruenenfelder, 48, Blanchardville, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2000 at her home in Blanchardville in the arms of her loving family after a brave, long uphill battle with cancer. Glady was born July 30, 1952 in Birchwood, the daughter of William L. Sr. and Evelyn (Weaver) Vine. When she was four, her family moved to Milton, where she attended grade and high school, graduating in 1970. She then married James Jensen and had a daughter, Christine Evelyn. Glady worked as a waitress in Adams, where she met Paul Gruenenfelder She and Paul were married on May 28, 1977. She worked as a waitress, cook and teachers' aide until Paul had a disabling car accident. Glady then stayed home to take care of him and also helped raise his three kids. In 1983 they moved to Blanchardville, where she worked as a secretary and then received her real estate license. In 1987 Glady enacted her dream and opened “Freddies” (Paul's pet name for her) Restaurant in Blanchardville. She ran the restaurant long hours 7 days a week for 10 years, but enjoyed the many good friends, coffee clutches and good time they had there daily. There are many good memories there. Glady had sold the restaurant and was working at D.J.'s Bar and Grill at the time of her illness. Glady was a member of the fire department, EMS, Garden Club, Realtors Association, and board of directors for the Blanchardville Area Improvement Corporation. Glady enjoyed time with her family and grandchildren, gardening, bowling, and the Tuesday morning Coffee Chat.

Survivors include her loving husband, Paul Gruenenfelder, Blanchardville, her children, Christine (Tom) Goebel, Blanchardville, Paula (Denny) Darrow, Madison, and Lisa Colello, Las Vegas, Nevada; her grandchildren, Zachary, Ashley, Maci, Michaela and Hunter; two sisters, Shirley (Gerald) Reynolds, Adams and Ann (Pat) Marceau, Hancock; and two brothers, Bill (Carol) Vine, Janesville and Jack Vine, Adams. She is preceded in death by her mother in 1980; her father in 1998; and her son, Mike in 1996.

A funeral service was held Monday, October 9 at 12:30 pm at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville. Fr. Randy Butnar of that church officiated with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Blanchardville. Following burial, a lunch was held at the Blanchardville American Legion Post. Friends called Sunday, October 8 from 4-9 pm at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.

She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
