DANVILLE - Marie Quinlin Lucress, age 83, of Abingdon Place, Danville, VA. died on Sunday, July 13, 2008.
She was born on September 23, 1924 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of the late Elmer and Ethel Young Vincent.
She was first married in1952 to Ralph W. Quinlin, who predeceased her in 1967. She then married William Lucress in 1971, who predeceased her in 1985.
Marie was a secretary at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY for 23 years before moving to Danville in 1973. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Esther Bible Class and Echo's Senior Club. She served as past President and 6th District President of the American Legion Auxilary #325, past Officer Liberte Salon #850, Eight and Forty past President Scottish Rite Woman's Club, past President Fezett's Woman's Club, past Officer Kaufman-Brydon #87 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a stepson, Charles Lucress, of Binghamton, New York; two nephews, Steve Sutton and his wife, Barb of Tacoma, WA, and John Sutton and his wife, Marty of Lakewood, WA; several cousins; and dear friends, Wayne and Brenda Smith of Danville.
She was predeceased by a stepson, William Lucress.
Funeral services will be held from Townes Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Larry House officiating. The Robertson Bennett Chapter #70, Order of the Eastern Star will present Order of the Eastern Star rites at the chapel following the service. The visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
