A funeral mass for David V. Vigil was celebrated this morning by Rev. C. John Brasher at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment followed the mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jesus Martinez, Eddie Quintana, Kevin Miller, Abe Garcia, Anthony Urioste and Paul Urioste.
David, age 84, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Saturday Jan. 26, 2008, at Alta Vista Regional Hospital.
He was born on April 11, 1923, to the late Saturnino Vigil and Manuela Padilla. He is also preceded in death by his son, Joseph Vigil and sisters Bessie Lammle and Eva Trujillo.
David is survived by his wife Stephanita Vigil of the family home; children: Teresa Miller and husband Kevin of Albuquerque , Rita Quintana and husband Eddie, James Vigil and David Vigil and fiance Loretta, all of Las Vegas, N.M., and Mary Vigil of Las Vegas, Nevada; special granddaughter who he raised, Leandra Vigil of Las Vegas, N.M.; grandchildren: Tuesday Garcia and husband Abe, George Romero and wife Chantel, Brianna Quintana, Jayme Vigil, Gabrielle Vigil, Ethan Encinias, Sabrina, Tina, Ziggy, Mark Jr. and Serena; great granddaughter, Jenica Gonzales; brother Adan Vigil; sister Mary Louise Dominguez and husband Anselmo; Goddaughter Irene Ramirez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home.
