Mrs. Maud Vernon, widow of Tom Vernon, of the Medon Community, died Monday morning at 7 a.m. at the Hillcrest Convalescent Home following a long illness. She was 84 years old.

Services will be Tuesday afternoon at Clover Creek Baptist Church in Medon with the Rev. Harry Hargrove and the Rev. Charles Page offciating. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Hardeman County with George A. Smith & Sons in charge.

Mrs. Vernon was born Sept. 24, 1890 in Madison Co. in the Uptonville Community, daughter of the late Charlie & Nancy Haskins Parlow. For the past 25 years she made her home in Medon. She was a member of Clover Creek Baptist Church.

She was married to Ton Vernon on Feb. 14, 1909. He preceded her in death in Nov. 1930.

She leaves 4 daughters; Mrs. Herbert C. (Margaret) Jones of Jackson, Mrs. Claude (Clara) Helton & Mrs. Berlon (Dot) Melton both of Medon and Mrs. W.A. Zink of memphis, a son Ray Edward *Pig* Vernon of Medon, a sister Mrs. Siler Wiggins of Jackson, 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Her body will be at the funeral home until funeral hour.

The following grandchildren will be pallbearers: George Time, Robert Tims, Siler *Shorty* Helton, Ray Helton, Kenneth Anderson and Billy Jones.
