Harold James Vaughan, 80, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Adams Street Place.

He was born January 3, 1930, in Union, a son of the late John (Johnnie) and Mary Mertell Vaughan. On November 23, 1950, Harold was united in marriage to Norma "Jean" Grafe, who survives at the home.

Harold attended Camp Ground School House near Meta, which was a one room school house with eight grades. He was employed for 30 years with Sprint and retired as a cable splicer in 1989. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is also survived by two daughters: Shirley Blake and her husband Steve of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Sheila Allen and her husband John of Vienna; four grandchildren: Jessica, Ashley, Corey, and Dustin; four step-grandchildren: Bryan, Steve, Albert, and Aaron; one great- granddaughter, Isabelle; and one sister, Tessie Parker of Rolla.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by one brother: Victor Vaughan in 1995; and one sister: Irene Parker in 1991.

Burial at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., with Monsignor David D. Cox officiating. Interment will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Arrangements under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.
