Jason Benjamin Vance, 87, died Thursday after an illness of two years.
He was born on September 21, 1863, in Coloma, Missouri, a son of Mr and Mrs John Vance. He was orphaned at the age of four and went to Indiana to live with an uncle. When fifteen years of age he went to Nebraska, and on November 11, 1894 he married Myrta Wyatt.
They came to Bear River Valley in 1898 where they lived until 1918 when they moved to Oregon for eight years, then returning to Tremonton where they he has lived since.
His wife died on July 24, 1940 and on July 24, 1942 he married Grace Beard.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and was employed by the Utah-Idaho Sugar Company as a Canal Superintendent.
Surviving are his widow and the following sons and daughters, Clifford Vance, Tremonton, Utah; Clarence Vance, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs Doris Preston, Portland, Oregon; Earl Vance, Loomis, California; Mrs Ruth Tallman, Linwood, California; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-granchildren.
Burial was held in the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Utah.
