"Mrs. Kate (Vannatta) Thatcher, 80, of Connersville, died at the home of a son, Glen Thatcher, Glenwood, Friday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock from complications arising from a broken hip suffered four months ago. She was taken to the son's home two weeks ago after being a patient at the Fayette Memorial Hospital at Connersville four months.
She was born in Franklin County on August 31, 1866, a daughter of John and Angeline (Weir) Vannatta and had lived all her life in Franklin and Fayette Counties. She was a member of the Laurel Methodist Church. Her husband, Ophir Thatcher, died in 1933.
Besides the son, two other sons survive Clyde Thatcher, Connersville, and Roy O. Thatcher, Lansing, Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Fields Blooming Grove, and Mrs. Clara Handley, California; a brother, Johnathan Vannatta, Laurel; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at ten o'clock at the Park Place Church Connersville, with the Rev. G.D. Frye officiating. Burial will be at Laurel. Friends may call at the Moster Mortuary here beginning Sunday morning."
