Anna Lois Valentine, 85, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2013, at a local medical center.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Bethel AME Church, 725 Plum, Abilene, with Reverend Richard Green officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Anna was born July 11, 1928 to H.B. Wallick and Leona (Farrar) Wallick in Dangerfield, Texas. She was employed for 49 years with the Atwood Means family and the Mary Bob Grimes family. Anna loved to cook, work crossword puzzles, and liked all sports. She enjoyed spending times with her family and grandchildren. Anna was a longtime member of Bethel AME Church in Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents; H.B. and Leona Wallick; brother, William (Bill) Anderson, and sister, Berdyne Scott.

Survivors include her son, James H. Valentine and wife Lisa Koerner of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter, Tanya Johnson of Abilene, Texas; a sister, Charlotte Livers of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Jerron Johnson and Jalen Johnson, both of Abilene; a great-grandchild, Aaiden Fernandez of Abilene; extended families of Atwood Means and Mary Bob Grimes; and a host of friends and extended family.
