(ROANOKE) Services for Suzanne Ussery Schuessler, 73, of Roanoke will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 809 Rock Mills Rd., Roanoke with the Rev. Al Perkins III officiating. Mrs. Schuessler will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Schuessler died Sunday, Dec. 4, at West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange.
Survivors include her husband, John Major Schuessler of Roanoke; one son, Wesley Schuessler II of LaGrange; two daughters, Dr. Suzanne Schuessler Hayes of LaGrange and Lila Murfee Schuessler of Birmingham; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Durham, Roger White, Oliver Kitchens, Spec Bonner, Mark Awbrey, Pat Awbrey, Jim Dunn and Bill Ragle.
Mrs. Schuessler was born Jan. 15, 1932, daughter of Dr. Gordon Clopton Ussery and Annie Wright Ussery. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, the Dames of Magna Charta, numerous bridge clubs, Roanoke Garden Club, Roanoke Literary Club, Roanoke Silhouette Club, and was a Randolph County Hospital Pink Lady. Mrs. Schuessler graduated from Mercer University with a masters degree.
Mrs. Schuessler was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Alma Ussery Croft; and one brother, Dr. Gordon Clopton Ussery Jr.
