Carol R. Bowers, age 78, of Huntington, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday (May 22, 2012) at Covington Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne.
Carol was born on November 25, 1933 in Huntington to Kenneth and Lucille (Kunce) Tuggle. She married Richard D. Bowers, on October 10, 1954 in Andrews and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2011.
Carol retired from the Huntington County Schools System Corporation where she worked for over 23 years at Lincoln School as a cook.
Carol is survived by one son - Richard D. (Betty Lou) Bowers, Jr. of Huntington, one daughter - Cynthia Jo Bowers of Huntington, two brothers - Walter Tuggle of Crossville, Tennessee and Garry Wayne Tuggle of Sugarland, Texas; four sisters - Vivian Rice of Huntington, Doris (Maury) Owen of Parr, Texas; Phyllis (Delbert) Snow of Andrews; Donna (Robert) Warden of Roanoke and two grandchildren - Jarred Bowers of Huntington and Dea Jo Bowers of Huntington; one great-grandson Devon Osborne of Dowagiac, Michigan. Her parents, husband, son Dale Allen Bowers, daughter Mona Kay Bowers and a brother Kenneth Tuggle, Jr. preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm at the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel on Friday (May 25, 2012) with Rev. Dianna Teusch officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
