Dora Pearl Tubbs, wife of James Charles Tubbs.
Born in Lafayette County, MS, March 18, 1887, Pearl was the youngest daughter of James Lewis Walker, son of Tyree Glenn Walker and Rebecca Watson Adams, and Zilla Dee Dodd, daughter of Benjamin L Dodd and Sarah Howard Carson. Pearl died November 7, 1955, near Memphis, TN, of respiratory failure due to an auto accident on Highway 51 between Coldwater & Senatobia, Tate County, MS. in a head on collision with another auto. Per death certificate. Her son, Buford, was also killed in this accident.
Pearl first was married to James Steven Nelson, and they had two children, Clara Mae, and Buford. They apparently divorced.
She than married James Charles Tubbs, born in Lafayette County, MS, 17 Mar 1886, also interred at Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis. He was the son of James Thomas Tubbs and Sarah Elizabeth Riley.
The census of 1920 says Pearl was divorced and living with Buford and Clara Mae, ages 13 and 12, residing with Pearl's parents in Lafayette County, MS.
Buford B Nelson, born 1907, died 05 Nov 1955, in the accident with his mother.
Clara Mae, listed with surname Edwards, age 21, widow, born MS, is in Memphis with Pearl in the 1930 census. Clara died in 1992 in Houston, Texas.
Pearl was an exceptionally good and faithful wife and mother.
