Earnestine Farrar passed away peacefully in her home on February 22, 2016. She was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on November 11, 1917. She was the daughter of Rafaelita Portillo Trujillo and Lorenzo Trujillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivy Frank Farrar; siblings Eliza Trujillo, Tobias Trujillo, Micki Jewett, and Cecilia Adams; sister-in-law Rosella Trujillo, Bobby Farrar Turner, Dorothy Sarah Harrison; brothers-in-law Robert Jewett and Ross Lujan.

Earnestine graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in El Paso, Texas in 1945 and worked until 1953 at the Los Alamos Hospital before transferring to the Los Alamos National Laboratory where she served as an occupational health nurse for twenty-six years before retiring in 1979.

She married Ivy Frank Farrar in 1949 and they lived in Los Alamos and Albuquerque until Frank’s death in 1995. During their long marriage, they spent many happy summers at their cabin in Pagosa Springs, Colorado vacationing with friends and relatives.

Earnestine also enjoyed reunions and visits with her Hotel Dieu classmates with whom she maintained close and warm relationships. She was an accomplished seamstress and excelled at crochet and other arts and crafts. Earnestine was a devout Catholic and participated in many functions and activities at the church. She loved her family and friends, but loved God above all things. Earnestine will always be remembered as a kind, caring and generous person.

A Rosary Service was held on February 27, 2016 with a mass of Christian Burial at Sangre de Cristo Catholic in Albuquerque. Internment was conducted at Santa Fe National Cemetery on February 29, 2016.
