Aurora M. Trujillo, 86, died peacefully at the home of her daughter in Albuquerque on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009. She was born on May 1, 1923, in Los Alamitos, San Miguel County, N.M., to Modesta Baca Montoya and Abelino Montoya.

Aurora is a long-time resident of Las Vegas and member of the Immaculate Conception Church. She worked in administrative and clerical positions at the Las Vegas Hospital and the San Miguel County Public Health Department.

After retirement from the state of New Mexico, she worked with the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs, jobs she thoroughly enjoyed. She also taught in the religious education programs for children through the I.C. Church.

She was a kind and generous person and gave assistance to the clients she served beyond the call of duty and was a good friend to her co-workers.

A wise friend and teacher, she provided much love, guidance and support to her younger siblings, her children and grandchildren, teaching them as much as she could about living a virtuous, honest and productive life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Doroteo M. Trujillo: sons David Trujillo and Francisco Trujillo; grandson Adam Baca; daughter-in-law Deborah Dudder; brother and sisters Alejandro Montoya, Louise Sims and Erlinda Kloeppel, parents in-law, and several brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

Aurora is survived by her children: Christine Esquibel and husband Gilbert of Las Cruces, Dorothy Trujillo Starr and husband Clark of Albuquerque, D. Richard Trujillo, and Anita Casillas and husband Gerard of Las Vegas, N.M.

Surviving grandchildren are Kathleen Marquez and husband William and their children Amanda, Ryan and Devin, of Thornton Colo.; Karen Abney and husband Matt and their children Alyssa and Sarah of Las Cruces; Maggie Baca and her children Julian Romero, Aurora and Audrey Boyer of Albuquerque; Damian Trujillo and wife Theresa of Tucson, Ariz.; Jeremy Trujillo of Las Vegas, N.M.; Daniel Casillas of Los Angeles, Calif., Emily Casillas of Las Vegas, N.M. and David Starr and wife Laura and their children Shawn and Kayleigh of Davenport, Iowa.

Surviving sisters and brothers are Polly Montoya, Alvin Montoya, Mickey Montoya and wife Nancy, and Albert Montoya and wife Lorraine all of Las Vegas, N.M.; Frances Willcut of Clarkton, Mo.; and Abelina Walton and husband Tom of Libuse, La.; sister-in-law: Claudia Valencia and husband Santos of Mesa, Ariz.

Aurora is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including special niece Jacqueline Anderson, and also by former son-in-law, Anthony Baca.

Rosary devotional services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at the Immaculate Conception Church. The mass of resurrection will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Maggie Baca, Emily Casillas, Daniel Casillas, Damian Trujillo, Jeremy Trujillo, Matt Abney, William Marquez and Gerard Casillas.

She will lie in state at the Rogers Chapel on Friday all day until 5 p.m. where family and friends may call.
