Steele, Mo. - Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Margaret Jane Treece, who passed away Thursday at her home in Steele.
Mrs. Treece was the widow of the late George W. Treece, who was associated with and helped establish the first banking and drug business in Steele.
Mrs. Treece was 86 years old and had lived in Steele over sixty years, which dates back to before the incorporation of the town in 1902.
Services were held from the German Funeral Chapel and were conducted by the Reverend Howard Hamrick, pastor of the Baptist church.
Survivors are two sons, Ralph of Cavana, Calif. and Fred of Steele; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Carlock of Cape Girardeau, Mo., six grandchildren and six great-gandchildren.

Mrs. Margaret Jane Treece, widow of the late George W. Treece, passed away Thursday, July 7 at 6:50 p.m. in the St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born March 26, 1869 in Otway, Ohio, Mrs. Treece was 86 years, 8 months and 11 days of age, and had spent over 60 years in this community.
Her husband, George, who died approximately 30 years ago, helped establish the first banking and drug business in Steele when the town was young. He remained in the banking business until retirement and was replaced by P.S. Payne, who is there yet.
Once an active member of the Methodist church, she had spent much of her time at home since the illness and death of her youngest daughter, Grace, over 20 years ago.
Before coming to Missouri she taught school in Arkansas.
Funeral services were conducted in German Funeral Home Chapel on July 9, with Rev. Howard Hamrick officiating. Interment was at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons Ralph of Covina, Calif. and Fred of Steele; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Caslock of Cape Girardeau; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
