|Birth: ||Sep. 20, 1877|
|Death: ||Jun. 30, 1936|
Alice Jane Cunningham died June 30, 1936, at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 10 days. At the age of 20 years she was married to W.W. Cunningham, and was a member of the Methodist Church at Marvin Chapel and lived a devout Christian life.
She was a loving mother, true wife and a good neighbor. Always content with her allotment in life, be it great or small. Always of good cheer, a good word and a pleasant smile for every one. Weep not, loved ones, God giveth and God taketh away, and God gave her to us as an example, and took her for a star to guide us. She fought a good fight and has gone to receive her reward in glory.
Funeral services were held from the Nazarene church in Caruthersville July 1, 1935, at 3:30, conducted by Rev. Roy Bradley, with interment at Maple Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, W.W. Cunningham of Caruthersville. Three sons, Jack Cunningham of Burnsville, Miss.; Joe and Paul Cunningham of Caruthersville; two daughters, Esther Handley and Ruth Wheeler of Caruthersville, and three grandchildren. Her mother, Mrs. Mary Treece of Caruthersville, three brothers and one sister, and a host of relatives also survive.
Why should we weep when weary ones rest
On the bosom of the Great Supreme,
In the Mansion of Glory prepared for the blest;
For death is no more than a dream.
