L. Marilyn Travis, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Richard Speight. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the funeral home. Entombment: Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children, Dennis (Denise) Travis of Cedar Rapids and Cheryle (Robert) Opfer of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Necole (Jason) Meyer, Noelle (Joe) Boardman, Camille (Matt) Franklin and Cherob Opfer; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gilbert (Norma) Thoren of Hiawatha.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Minnie Thoren; husband, Wendall; five brothers, Elmer, Ralph, Elvin, Ernest, and LaVern; five sisters, Ruth, Ila, Ilene, Ester and Ellen.

Marilyn was born March 30, 1930, the daughter of Gilbert and Minnie (Johnson) Thoren, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines, On May 28, 1949, Marilyn was united in marriage to Wendall Travis in Winterset, Iowa. She worked at Cedar Rapids Schools in the Food Service Department. Marilyn enjoyed gardening and fishing.
