Born Sept. 20, 1920, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Willie and Lora (White) Tolbert. She married Asa Bex on May 28, 1943, at Hattiesburg, Miss., and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1994.
She worked at Reliance Manufacturing Company at Bedford, Mitchell and Hattiesburg for several years. She retired from the Burris School cafeteria.
She was a 1938 graduate of Williams High School. She was a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Surviving are one son, Gary Bex and wife Gaye of Indianapolis; one daughter, Rita Dunn and husband Mark of Bedford; one brother, William Tolbert of Indianapolis; one sister, Bertha Buckley of Bedford; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Grace Bridges; and brothers, Oliver, James, Roy, Robert and Opal Tolbert.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford with Brother Allen Burris officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
