Bessie Emma Alexander, 90, of Lexington, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 in Sanford, North Carolina.
Mrs. Alexander was born on December 11, 1914 in Kinston, NC and was the last surviving child of the late Thomas Timberlake and Ola Taylor Timberlake.
She was a member of the Randolph Street United Methodist Church in Lexington, where she served in many organizations, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and was a former member of the Helping Hands Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Purcell Alexander.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by three children: Richard Branch of Sanford, NC; Odell Alexander of Lexington and Bessie T. Toney of Sanford, NC; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the Randolph Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Randolph Street United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington.
