Mr. Tilton, 84, of Elizabeth, entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Alexandria. He was born on January 15, 1929 in Elizabeth to the union of E. D. Tilton and Flossie Hutchinson Tilton. He was a member of the Methodist Camping Club, Yellow Pine Lodge #282, Jewel Chapter #100 and order of the Eastern Star. A Lifelong resident of Elizabeth, he worked at the Calcasieu Paper Company from high school until the mill closure. He worked as Fort Polk civilian until retirement. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and travel. Mr. Tilton was a passionate music lover. Most people will remember him as "Santa Claus" or "PawPaw". He was a board member for the Allen Parish Council on Aging. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Vivian Dowies Tilton of Elizabeth, Louisiana; children, Phillip Turner and wife Martha Ann of Elizabeth, Louisiana, Glenda Crawford and husband Larry of Anna, Texas, Peggy Vizena and husband Lee of Elizabeth, Louisiana, and John Tilton and wife Trudy of Iowa, Louisiana; grandchildren, Traci Turner, Ann Goade and husband William, Glenn Turner and wife Tricia, Amy Owensby and husband Gary, Leeanna Vizena, Jessica Vizena and fiancé Luke Tarver, and Daphney Tilton; great grandchildren, Jacob Turner, Lawrence Goade, Grant Owensby, Olivia Owensby, Gracie Goade, and Emily Owensby; one sister, Maureen Miers of Texarkana, Texas; one brother, Ken Tilton and wife Alice of Sulphur; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be today from 5 pm until 9 pm at White Oaks Memorial Chapel then Tuesday from 9 am until time of service in the Elizabeth Baptist Church.
