She was born September 3, 1941 in New Castle and was the daughter of the late Commodore and Georgia Simmons Tilden.
Gladys retired from the Youth Development Center where she worked as a counselor and she was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. She loved cooking and in earlier years enjoyed playing softball. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence Davis of Decatur, GA; a daughter, Billie Jean Davis of New Castle; five grandchildren, Starlette Davis, Qualin Davis, Ebony Davis, Brittany Davis and Thomas Smith; seven great grandchildren, Jayvonne Wright, Jaden Taylor, Rayan Eckert, Jason Davis, Qualin Davis, Jasaun Davis, Keyarah W-Davis; three special family members, Shirlene Respress, Linda Williams Neal and Laverne Lane and is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Sims; six brothers, Commodore, Emerson, Charles, Alfred, Grover and James Tilden and two sisters, Elizabeth Simpson and Julia Crawford.
