Melba May Medsker, the daughter of Dell and Mabel (Fields) Tibbetts, was born on September 14, 1930, in Peterson, Iowa. She was raised and attended school there, graduating from Peterson High School.

She married Daryl “Bud’ Medsker on March 11, 1949, in Jackson, Minnesota. Melba was a homemaker and raised her family. Throughout their married life, they lived in Buena Vista and Cherokee counties, and New Ulm and Sanborn, Minnesota. In 1990, the couple retired and moved to Peterson.

In her retirement, Melba enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She made sure everyone was fed well when they would visit. She volunteered at the Senior Center in Peterson, helping serve the meals. She also was involved in the Ladies Club. After spending time living in Colorado, she moved to Cobble Creek in 2012.

Melba passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daryl in 2005; daughter, Wanda Sue Tucker and her husband, John; son, David; brothers: Delbert, Howard and Roger; and her sister, Francis Melton.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Nyla Eala of Arizona, and Barbara Myking of Spencer, IA; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; her sister, Sheryl Carlson; her brother, Donnie Tibbetts; countless nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
