Leah Janet (Thompson) Jones, 57, St. Joseph, MO., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at a St. Joseph hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Jones had been employed part-time at Adams Jewelry in St. Joseph.

Born in Bethany, Mo., on Aug. 13, 1940, she was reared in Gallatin, Mo., and had been a resident of St. Joseph since 1974.

She attended the Wyatt Park Baptist Church in St. Joseph and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, at Gallatin.

On June 9, 1958, she married Derrill R. Jones. He survives of the home.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her father, Auvil Thompson; and a brother, Dale Thompson.

Additional survivors: a daughter, Sherri Capps, St. Joseph; a son, Garry, St. Joseph; her mother, Mildred Thompson, Gallatin; two sisters, Betty Jo McKay, Kansas City, and Cheryl Garlick, Gallatin; and four grandchildren.

Services: Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, Meierhoffer-Fleeman Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MO.
Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
