Besides her husband, Patrick, she is survived by their five children; Tim, Meagan Thomasson, Neil, Chris, Mary, Brother Michael, and 14 granchildren.
Joan always enjoyed helping where needed, starting with a request for help with a Girl Scout Troop in 1968! She didnt even have children yet. When she had children, Joan volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Girl Scout Troop Leader (loved those campouts!), PTA officer, room mother, YLI member, Tri-W member, classroom volunteer, and raised 5 children. For 12 years, during summer months, she and Patrick raised and sold sweet corn at the Modesto Farmers Market. Starting in 1976, Joan was a volunteer office helper at St. Anthonys Catholic Church Religious Education Program in Hughson. After being hired and spending 20 years as Director of Religious Education, Joan retired in 2005. Lately, Joan pursued her love of art, finding joy in watercolor painting (and giving it away), and rediscovering her love of sketching. Joan is most proud of, and thankful for, her wonderful family and their loving care for her during her illness. Joan will miss them, and her friends, but she had a wonderful life, from her childhood through adulthood, and is thankful to her loving Savior for all of it.
