ABINGDON, Ill. — Mary Evelyn Salter, 70, of Abingdon, Ill., died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, in an Abingdon nursing home.
Born July 31, 1940, in Lowden, Iowa, she was the daughter of Leo Thompson and Mary Burns. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Randy Salter of Milan, Mo.; a daughter, Vickie Sheldon of Abingdon; two brothers, Dale Thompson and Dave Thompson, both of Niangua, Mo.; two sisters, Mildred Kelley of Unionville, Iowa, and Ruth Krusel of Mystic, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Jordan Sheldon, Corey Salter, Steven Salter and Dusty Salter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrell Salter; three brothers, David Thompson, Russell Thompson and Kenneth Thompson; and a daughter, Mary Salter.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Willis Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Jackson Barber officiating.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Thompson Jr., D.J. Wood, Randy Allender, Michael Leatherman, Bryan Thompson and James Belt.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
