George Moore Thompson, III, 54, of Sand Hill Rd., Candler, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012.
A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Enka High School and UNCA. He was a member of UNCA's first masters programs, and also took graduate classes at the University of Tennessee. He worked as a professor of philosophy and religion at Western Carolina University.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Judy Moore Thompson; son Lee Thompson and wife Jenny; mother Judy Clark and step-father Jim Clark; grandchildren Jacob and Olivia; step-sister Angela Hart; step-brother Alex Clark; and father George M. Thompson., Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Allen Rash officiating.
