Mary married Jabez Alexander O. Amsbury on 01 August 1822 in Vinalhaven, Knox County, Maine. Mary and Jabez had eleven children. They were: Thomas Amsbury was born on 26 September 1829 in North Haven, Knox County, Maine; Otis Amsbury was born on 06 May 1831 in North Haven, Knox County, Maine; Oliver Amsbury was born on 24 February 1833 in North Haven, Knox County, Maine; Mary Helen Amsbury was born on 10 January 1834 in Rockport, Knox County, Maine; Winthrop Orr Amsbury was born on 23 April 1835 or 1836 in North Haven, Knox County, Maine; Horatio Sprague Amsbury was born on 08 March 1835 or 1836 in Rockport, Knox County, Maine; Edwin T. Note: Mary C. Thomas Amsbury was the matriarch of the famous Amesbury family of Rockport Maine, for which is named Ame sbury Hill that overlooks the harbor. Mary raised nine children, mostly on her own, while her husband, noted seacaptain Jabez Amsbury, was at sea building a commercial seafaring empire from Maine to San Francisco. After his death (when Mary was 40), she sold several acres of land to the town of Rockport, a place she loved until she died, on which the Amsbury Cemetery now stands.

Note: According to a local historian, Mary was buried upon her death in Amsbury Cemetery, but attempts to find her grave have been futile.
