MRS. ATWATER DIES AT 93; RITES SET
WASHINGTON -- Mrs. Edna P. Atwater, 93, a Washington resident for 60 years, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb 19, 1976, in Sunset Home at Quincy, where she had lived the past four years.
Mrs. Atwater formerly was employed at Block & Kuhl Co., Peoria, and at the Washington Telephone Compnay, which her husband owned and operated.
She was born Feb. 8, 1883, at Havana, a daughter of Jesse and Catherine Kilbride Thomas. She married John Atwater at Peoria Dec 13, 1902, and he preceded her in death at Washington in 1941.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Tippey of Havana, Mrs. Gertrude Tippey of Lewistown and Mrs. Garnett Gathmann of Forest City; a brother, Elmer Thomas of Emporia, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the White Funeral Home. Rev. Joseph A. White will officiate and interment will be in Glen Dale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Atwater was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Washington Woman's Club and a member and past worthy matron of the Washington Chapter 112, Order of Eastern Star.
