Helen Thomas Allison, 98, passed away January 3, 2015. She was a long time resident of Primacy Healthcare, where she received excellent care. Ms. Allison was born June 2, 1916 in Capleville, TN to Robert Younger Thomas and Bertha Frances Douglass. She was a kindergarten teacher with the Memphis City School System until her retirement in 1974. She was the author of several children’s books and also wrote poetry. She was a past Poet Laureate of Tennessee. Services will be Wednesday, January 7 at 10 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home located at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119 lead by Memphis Funeral Home celebrant Jonathan Matthews.
