Sarah Eubanks, 87; service was Tuesday
Sarah Lee Thomas Eubanks, age 87, of Monroe, formerly of Morehead City, died Saturday Oct. 20, 2007, in the Monroe Square Discovery Program in Monroe.
Her funeral service was Tuesday in McEwen Colonial Chapel followed by burial in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Union County, daughter of the late Guy Maurice Reed Thomas and the late Bertha Elizabeth Smith Thomas. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Rosalee Fincher Thomas. She was the fifth of eight children. She attended Appalachian State University. Prior to living in Monroe, she was a long-time resident of Morehead City. She was an active member of First Baptist Church. She was a Realtor and with her late husband started Down East Realty Co. of Carteret County. Along with their son, she and her husband also founded Red Baron Mini Marts.
She is survived by one daughter, one son, one brother, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three nieces, three nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Baxter Eubanks in 2001 and a grandson, Benner Jones IV in 1991.
The family suggests memorials be made to Union Baptist Church, 4312 Old Pageland-Monroe Road, Monroe, N.C. 28112.
