CLARENCE LaVERNE THAYER
Clarence LaVerne Thayer of Merriaman, NE., died on Oct. 22, 2004 at his home in Merriman. He was born Sept. 21, 1937 to James and Maudie (Swick) Thayer at Brocksburg, NE.
LaVerne spent most of his life ranching. He was been employed at the Buckles Station in Merriman and with SWANN in Gordon. He married Rosie Wounded Arrow and they had a son, Clarence. They divorced and Rosie has since passed away. He then married Vivian Whirlwind, and they later divorced.
LaVerne was involved with the Tri-State Old Time Cowboy Museum. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and family gatherings.
Survivors include his son, Clarence and daughter in law Gwen, grandson Chawce Thayer of Midland, VA; two brothers, Fred and Lester Thayer of Merriman, three sisters, Ann Hale and Karen Holeman of Merriman and Lila Nelson of Malakoff, TX, a step brother Shane Fish and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Oct. 27, 2004 in Gordon and burial was in the Merriman Cemetery.
