Mrs. Thayer was born on June 24, 1920 in Homer, a daughter of Martin and Bernice (Putt) Clabaugh. She married Frank Thayer on April 4, 1945 in San Francisco, California. He died on Aug. 14, 1993.
Surviving are one son, Dale Thayer; one daughter, Judy (Tony) Blair and three grandchildren, Ryan (Lora) Thayer, Cindy (Mike) Kuykendall and Kyle Blair.
Mrs. Thayer was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Clabaugh and sisters, June Nash and Beryl Dunn.
Mrs. Thayer was a bookkeeper for several businesses including Villa Grove State Bank, First National Bank in Villa Grove, Paul Cler's LP Gas Co. and CT Henson Lumber Company.
She was an 85-year member of the Villa Grove United Methodist Church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Toledo Chapter 231, Toledo, Illinois, dual member of Delmer D. Darrah Chapter 1021, Tolono and a 60-year-plus member of the ladies' auxiliary of the Villa Grove VFW Post 2876.
