Mrs. Burley Baker Funeral at Arbela Baptist Church


The funeral of Mrs. E. B. Baker, who died suddenly, as stated in last week's Democrat, was largely attended at Arbela, Thursday afternoon.


The funeral service was held at the Baptist Church and was conducted by Rev. Cleeton at two o'clock. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.


The members of the Rebecca Lodge of which, she was a member, took charge of the service at the cemetery.


Martha A., daughter of M. and Sarah Teter was born August 13th, 1860, near Arbela, Missouri. She departed this life April 21, 1925, at ten a.m. at the home of her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Miller, age sixty four years, eight months, and eight days.


She was united in marriage to E. B. Baker, November 7, 1888. To this union were born two children, a son who died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. J. W. Miller, of Granger.


She accepted Christ as her personal savior and united with the Baptist Church of Arbela in 1896 under the ministry of Rev. O. F. D. Wilson of Wyaconda, has lived a devoted Christian life and has been a faithful worker in the church and the Gleaners Society.


She was a true companion, a loving mother, and was loved by all who knew her.


She was always ready to visit and help the sick and lend a helping hand when needed.


She leaves to mourn her departure, a loving husband, one daughter, one grandson, Waltman Miller, Jr.; two sisters, Mrs. Christina Martin of Touchet, Washington and Mrs. Jane Pryor, of Arbela; one half-brother, Frank Teter of Clarence, Missouri and one half-sister, Mrs. Jacob Dye of Arbela, a number of relatives and a host of friends.
