The oldest child of Leo Leonard Tebeau and Minnie "Marie" Eads, "Carol" was born at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was baptized on 16 Nov 1941 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in University City, St. Louis County, Missouri.

Carol married Donald Eugene "Don" Eckert on 06 Oct 1962 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in University City. Carol and Don were the parents of 5 children, although 3 died in infancy. Carol's niece later became part of the Eckerts' family as well.

Carol was a graduate of Deaconess Nursing School. She was a registered nurse, and Don worked as a journeyman carpenter in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of Carpenters Local #5 affiliated with the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

A long-time Cardinals baseball fan, Carol enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and Don hosted countless gatherings for family and friends at their home in Webster Groves, Missouri over the years.

Carol died of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 6 days. She was survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law; 4 grandchildren; 1 brother and sister-in-law; 1 sister and brother-in-law; 4 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; cousins; and many friends.

In addition to her parents and 3 infants, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Don; 1 brother, Billy Tebeau; and 1 sister, Suzanne Harper.

Visitation was held at Shepard Funeral Home on Natural Bridge at I-170 in northwest St. Louis County, Missouri from 4 to 8 p.m. on 02 Jan 2014. A memorial service was conducted at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church on Litzsinger in Brentwood, St. Louis County, Missouri at 11 a.m. the following morning.

Carol was buried next to her husband, Don, in a private ceremony. He passed away in 2002.

The family requested that memorials be made, if desired, to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, Incorporated; 341 West 38th Street, Suite 501; New York, New York 10018.
