Alice was born on April 4, 1806 and christened June 29, 1806 in St Michael, of Ashton Underlyne, Lancashire, England. She is the daughter of Joshua and Mary Saville Taylor. She was first married to Thomas Dobson, of Ashton Underlyne, on November 2, 1828. What happened to him, we don't know. But on November 20, 1831 she married John Littleford in Cheshire, England. She was the mother of 6 boys. Life was hard, widowed at a young age with sons to care for, she is listed as a washerwoman and has been found living in a workhouse in Ollerset. Alice was a midwife in Derbyshire and went around taking care of the sick with herbs. She was taught the gospel and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on December 10, 1860. She set sail for America and Utah on July 14, 1868 on the ship Colorado. She was married to William Bailey on July 6, 1869 in Salt Lake City.
