Taylor

Funeral services for Mary Lavon Taylor, 69, of Bryan were held Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Kenneth Rhodes of Somerville officiating. Burial followed in the Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood.

Mrs. Taylor died Wednesday, March 26, at her home in Bryan.

She was born Oct. 2, 1938, in Milam County to Lonnie and Velma (Farmer) Smith. She married Joe A. Taylor, Sr. on July 10, 1954 in Lexington.

Mrs. Taylor attended Conoley Church in the Conoley Community near Thorndale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe A. Taylor Sr., on July 29, 2004; her parents; two brothers, Ted Smith and Milton Smith; and a sister, Dovie Bates.

Survivors include her son, Joe A. Taylor Jr. and wife, Nikki of Katy; three daughters, Wanda Wagnon and husband, Robert of Bryan, Terry Simmons and husband, Jimmy of Shepherd and Stacy Scott and husband, James of Bryan; brother, Alvin Smith of Dallas; two sisters, Mary Kirchenwitz of Rockdale and Patricia Baker of Rockdale; 14 grandchildren, Stephanie Bills and husband, Frank, Hank Wagnon and wife, Alex, Randy Wagnon and wife, Jill, Tayna Osborn and husband, Joshua, Brandon Taylor, Heath Simmons, Ashli Geick and husband, Allan, Savannah Scott, Blayne Scott, Dustin Hickman, Timothy Gafford, Abbi Taylor, Joshua Scott and Andi Taylor; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jacob Cook, Ava Taylor, Aspen Geick, Kimberly Wagnon, Mary Wagnon, Randy Wagnon Jr., William Wagnon, Bryson Simmons, Hank Wagnon Jr. and Alanna Simmons.

Pallbearers were Josh Osborn, Darrell Shed, Brandon Taylor, Dustin Hickman, Randy Wagnon and Allan Geick.

Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Scott, Jacob Cook and Heath Simmons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
