Ila Ruth (Taylor) Sykes, 81, of Dawson, died Aug. 26, 1989, in Midway Hospital in Lancaster.

Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at thhe First Baptist Church in Dawson with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Dawson Cemetery. Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard is in chare of arrangements.

She was born in Dawson on Dec. 16, 1907, and was a homemaker. She lived in Dawson most of her life, and had resided in Lancaster the past eight years with her son. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doc H. Sykes, May 22, 1971.

Survivors include one son, Donald Ray Sykes of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nphews.

Pallbearers will be Donald Mitchum, Buel Lee Hagle, Jerry DeLong, Glen Jones, James Sykes and Bobby NeSmith.

Honary pallbearers will be Bryant Merrill, and Roy NeSmith.
