Marie was born in Dora, Alabama, to Ollie and Effie Tanner. She was a retired dietician and a member of Faith Bible Missionary Church of Shreveport, Louisiana where she and James did missionary work all over the world until his death.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and loved by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Allard; a son, Dan Holcomb; four sisters; and seven brothers.
