Benjamin F. "Red" Blystone and Leona M. Blystone
Benjamin Blystone, age 84, of Valparaiso, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2002. He was a veteran of WWII, 5th Armored Division of Combat Engineers. A retired employee of U.S. Steel Sheet and Tin Mill Division with 21 years of service.
Leona M. Blystone, age 87, of Valparaiso, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Symons and Benjamin F. Blystone. Survivors daughter, Wilma (William) Parks of Portage; son, James E. (Charlene) Symons of Lowell; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Benjamin is also survived by one sister, Evelyn (Harvey) Coyle of Pennsylvania. Leona is also survived by two brothers, Harry Curtis of South Haven and Gene (Maggie) Curtis of Merrillville and two sisters, Mildred (William) Appel of Merrillville and Inez Gillis of Granite City, IL.
Funeral services for both Benjamin and Leona will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2002 at 11:30 A.M. at the Burns Funeral Home, (Hobart), corner of Rt 51 and 7th Street, with Rev. Phil Meyers officiating. Interment, McCool Cemetery, Portage, Indiana. Friends may call at the Burns Funeral Home (Hobart) on Wednesday from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
