Peggy Nelson, 79
MCCONNELSVILLE - Peggy Nelson, 79, of 190 S. Seventh St., Malta, died at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007, at her home.
She was born May 31, 1928, in Pikeville, Ky. She owned Peggy's Market and Peggy's Drive Thru in Malta for several years. She attended the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Anita (Brett) Woodward of McConnelsville; son, Larry (Katie) Ratliff of Malta; four stepdaughters, Chickie Buck of Nashville, Tenn., Cherie Cobb and Connie Abbott, both of Waterford and Sherri Skaggs of Zanesville; three stepsons, Jim and Gary Smith, both of McConnelsville and Doug Nelson of Joplin, Mo.; one sister, Ruby Childress of Malta; 10 grandchildren, Erick Hanson, Marisa Hanson, Zachary Hanson, Trenton Dodson, Braden Woodward, Katrina Scott, Peggy Higginbotham Becky Weldon, Aaron and Tracy McKibben; five great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Sweeton; mother, Ida Hill Sweeton; three husbands, Claude Ratliff, James Smith and Sumner "Curly" Nelson; and two brothers, Paul and Floyd Sweeton.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 16, at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2007, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Hite officiating. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery near Hackney.
