George M. Swayze, 51, of Stroudsburg, died Thursday, May 7, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

George was born and grew up in Newton, N.J., and lived in Hampton Township, N.J., before moving to Pennsylvania 21 years ago.

He was a 1976 graduate of Newton High School and was a former computer technologist. He was an avid hunter and sportsman.

The son of the late George L. Swayze Jr., he is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jackie Squire Swayze; two sons, Joshua M. Swayze and Jason A. Swayze, both at home; his mother, Carolina Swayze, at home; and one sister, Jane Garoutte and husband, Steven, of Frankford Township.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, May 11, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, N.J., followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Newton, N.J. Burial will follow at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, New Jersey Office, Center Point II, Suite 103, 1160 Route 22 East, Bridgewater, NJ 08807; or to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., No. 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
