Nevada Journal, Nevada, Iowa, Thursday, October 13th, 1994, page A2, column 2 & 3 - Mary Elizabeth Jacobson - July 4, 1908, to Oct. 6, 1994 - Mary Elizabeth Jacobson, 86, of Nevada, died of cancer at Rolling Green Village, Nevada, where she had been a resident of 10 days. She was born to John and Lizzie (Oxley) Swarms in Jasper County. On Jan. 25 1930, she married Leonard Jacobson in Maxwell. A homemaker, she had resided in the Maxwell area, and for 20 years on a farm southwest of Ames. She had bee a resident of Nevada for 22 years. she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada, the Nevada Chapter No 296 Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine in Ames, and the Fairview Club in Ames. She is survived by one son, Donald Jacobson of Maxwell; four grandsons: Larry Jacobson of Maxwell, Dan Jacobson of Beaverton, Ore., David Jacobson of Minneapolis, Minn., and John Jacobson of Ames; two great grandchildren: Amanda and Josh Jacobson of Maxwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 1977. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 10, at the First United Methodist Church, Nevada, with Pastor James King officiating. Burial was in Peoria Cemetery in rural Maxwell. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, was in charge of arrangements.
