MOLINE - Blanche B. Bocox, 97, Moline, formerly of Galesburg and Sherrard, died Saturday (Dec. 9, 2006) in Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
She was born May 15, 1909, in Galesburg, the daughter of Edd and Maude Hilligoss Peterson.
She married John Verner Swanson on Dec. 31, 1932, in Los Angeles. He died in August 1967. She married Carl E. Bocox on Oct. 15, 1969, in Galesburg. He died Jan. 1, 2006.
Surviving are a son, Myron (and Fern) Swanson, Sherrard; a daughter-in-law, Lynda Swanson, Prescott, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Pat Peterson, Monmouth; a special friend, Joe Fritch, Aledo; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Bob (and Gloria) Bocox, New Windsor. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shirley, a son, Dale Swanson, two brothers, a sister, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law.
She was a secretary at Bob McCallister Insurance Co. in Los Angeles. After moving to Galesburg, she was a secretary at the former Weber, Griffith, & Millikin Architectural and Engineering firm.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sherrard, and was active with the Methodist Church in Arkansas.
She enjoyed fishing, dancing, crocheting and being with the Women's Group in Galesburg.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Visitation will be one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Altadena, Calif.
