Chester Surnear, 69, Dies In Canajoharie After Long Illness

Canajoharie – Chester Surnear, 69, well known resident of this village died Monday morning at 7:20 at the home of his son, William Surnear at 59 Walnut street after an illness of some length. The deceased was born in Sprakers, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Surnear. For many years, he has resided in Canajoharie and for years was an employee of the Canajoharie Municipal System. For the past few years, he has lived retired.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Laura Surnear; two daughters, Mrs. Michael Kane of Canajoharie and Mrs. W.C. Joslin of Connecticut; three sons, William Surnear of Johnstown; also twelve grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Samuel Spear, pastor of the Methodist church officiating and the remains will be placed in the vault in Prospect Hill cemetery, in which cemetery interment will be made later in the season.
