SPEAKMAN - Dorothy Elizabeth, (Surber), 94, of Sapulpa, died June 13, 2008. Born August 20, 1913 in Ardmore, she was the only child of Robert Currin and Etta (Sloan) Surber.

She graduated from Ardmore High School, Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, and Oklahoma A&M. She was a homemaker, and also taught elementary grades at Gene Autry and Sapulpa schools. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, PEO and served on the financial committee of the Sacred Heart Church in Sapulpa.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, and husband of 56 years, Judge Streeter Speakman, Jr. Survivors are: her daughters, Currin Bradley and husband Tim of Tulsa, and Susan Hatta and husband Tadaaki of Elyria, OH; and son, Streeter Speakman III of Sapulpa; grandchildren, Thomas Bradley of Portland, OR, Mariah Hatta of Little Rock, AR, Robert Hatta and wife Megan of Cleveland Heights, OH and Benjamin Hatta of Santa Monica, CA. She is also survived by: cousins, Mike Surber of Ardmore and Wesley Surber Coffman and wife, Elaine, of Dallas, TX.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am, on Friday, July 11, 2008, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1777 East Grayson, Sapulpa with inurnment following. Concelebrants will be Father Jovita Okonkwo and Father Stuart Crevecour. Rosary will be said Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 7 pm, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the building fund of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sapulpa, and to the Creek Pet Adoptions, 12 Honeybear Lane, Kellyville, OK, 74039, 918-247-6290.
