Helen Grayson, 79, of Thompsonville, IL, died at 9:22 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Grayson was born on October 19, 1930 in Hamilton County, IL, the daughter of Logan "Nick" Summers and Madeline (Warren) Summers. She married Lee Grayson on December 30, 1972 and he survives.

Helen loved music and dancing, friends and family. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in Thompsonville and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Thompsonville, IL.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Lee Grayson, Akin, IL, a son, Greg Shelton and wife Patty, Benton, IL, a step-son, Wayne Grayson, Johnston City, IL, two step-daughters, Sandy Grayson, Eldorado, IL, Robyn Richardson and husband Danny, Staunton, IL, two grandsons, David Shelton, Akin, IL, Patrick Shelton, Cape Girardeau, MO, a granddaughter, Rachael Fridel, Glen Carbon, IL, four great-grandchildren, a sister, Fay Harris, Cape Girardeau, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Grayson was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Nicki Fay, one brother, Richard Summers, a sister, Pauline Frazier.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Minor officiating. Burial will be in the Brady Cemetery, Akin, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL, 62959.
