Marie Bird, 96, of Amarillo, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Stinnett. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Bird was born on May 14, 1908 in Weatherford, Texas to Callie and John Sublett. She was a long time resident of Stinnett and recently of Amarillo where she lived independently until the time of her death.

She retired from C.R. Anthony Co. in 1971 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stinnett.

We have lost a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by two loving husbands, Herbert Smith in 1941 and Chester Bird in 1987; her parents; two sisters, Opal Davis and Lydia Berry.

Survivors include one son, Dale Smith and wife Ruth of Amarillo; two daughters, Joyce Howell of Amarillo and Carolyn Arendall and husband Ronnie of Cleburne, Texas; and two brothers, Buster Sublett of Hereford, and Vernon Sublett of Chouteau, Okla.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Kate Moore of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be to the Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice Care, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79105 or to the First Baptist Church of Stinnett, P.O. Box 1316, Stinnett, Texas 79083.

The family expresses a special thanks to the 8th floor BSA nurses, BSA Hospice, Dr. Pillai, Dr. Patel, Dr. Carruth, and Susie.

Mrs. Bird will lie in state at Brown's Memorial Chapel in Stinnett until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Casket bearers will be Michael Arendall, Danny Stidger, Robin Stidger, Paul Strouhal, Mark Kemp, and Lucky Lundergreen.
