Francis Andrew Styer died July 13 at his home in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Riegal Styer.
He was born in Scranton on June 16, 1933, son of the late Benjamin and Mary Simeon Styer. He was a graduate of South Catholic High School in 1951, and attended Rutgers University. He served as a Navy corpsman attached to the Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Garden City, S.C., and a member of the American Legion Post 178 of Murrell's Inlet, S.C. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by children Lisa and husband, David Hall, of Beaufort, S.C.; Laurie Beck of Simpsonville, S.C.; Kenneth Styer of Columbia, S.C.; and David and wife, Cheryl Styer of Simpsonville, S.C.; six grandchildren, Seth and wife, Alicia Hall; Hannah Hall, Katie and Jeffrey Beck; Sinclair and Elizabeth Styer; great-granddaughter, Madison Arnold; a brother, Milford and wife, Francie Styer of Dunmore; twin sister, Sallie and husband, Stan Pozniack from Hazelton; extended family, Pat and Eddie Tokarski of Old Forge; Paul Roche of Old Forge; and a number of nieces and nephews. Frank was also predeceased by a brother, Thomas Styer of Syracuse, N.Y.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Scranton on July 28 at 4 p.m.
