Mrs. Elizabeth H. Black was born in Todd County, Kentucky 3/6/1813. While yet a child she removed with her parents to Illinois and settled with them in Wayne County. Her home has been in Fairfield for 40 years. She passed away to rest on Saturday, 11/3/1883, at 3 p.m. Her funeral took place from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Elzira Moffitt. Mrs. Black united with the Methodist Episcopal church in her 13th year.
